I’m trying to work out the most affordable way to get a children’s book published without cutting corners. I’ve looked at self-publishing, but once you add an editor, illustrator, ISBN, formatting, printing, and distribution, the numbers start looking very different. For anyone who has gone through children's book publishing in Canada, which expenses did you actually need to pay for, and which ones could you handle yourself? I’d be interested to hear what worked for other authors.
